Vroeg Middeleeuws Ierland stond bekend om haar manuscripten. Door de Ierse manuscripten zijn veel Keltische mythologische verhalen, de Ierse wetten en historische gebeurtenissen bewaard gebleven. Deze armband is gemaakt uit verschillende strengen. De strengen vormen het knoopmotief waaruit deze armband bestaat.
